The Union and the Medullary Circulation of Diaphysis after Transplantation of Frozen Ulnar Allograft in Rabbit

Bone grafts are widely used in conjunction with repair of fractures, arthrodesis, filling of cystic defects, and for replacement of skeletal deficits after traumatic loss or ablation f tumor. Recently, the use of allograft in orthopaedic oncology
is the
well established practice for reconstruction of defects in the extremities after tumor resection. Enneking and Mindell (1991) reported that the outer cortex of allografted diaphysis was revascularized from periosteal soft tissue circulation and
eventually incorporated to host bone. However the inner cortex was not revascularized, and maintained in dead bone state.
